LETTER ROCKS

Happy Wednesday! This week we worked on letter recognition. For this activity I used rocks from the dollar tree and an ABC letter sheet. I love introducing new ways to learn letters and it makes it so much fun when new manipulatives are presented. This was so easy, all you need is rocks, a permanent marker and an ABC chart. I grabbed this one for FREE from SprinkleofWhimsy and I love the black and white.

Then have your child pick from the rocks and match them to the coordinating letter on the ABC chart. It is a great activity for letter recognition and you could work on fine motor skills by giving your child tongs to find and pick up the rocks.  I threw some plain rocks in the mix too! I was also thinking of doing this activity with numbers. If your kids are older than you could also try to have them create sight words with the rocks. There are many ways to adjust the activity to fit your child's age and development. Just have fun with it!

There You Have It!

Thanks so much everyone!
