Hey Friends! Well we made it to the first day of HOMESCHOOL! I wasn't sure how this was going to go and I was definitely a little anxious leading up to the first day, but we did it!
On the blog today I am going to be sharing what our day looked like and I will be starting it off with a super fun breakfast for the kids. Then we will be taking our "First Day" pictures which gets me emotional every year, they grow so fast!
I will share a little glimpse into the classroom and what we worked on for the first week of school! The curriculum we are using this year begins with the letter A, A is for Apple!
The kids breakfast decor was from the dollar tree and Pinterest! The "Back To School" banner was
completely free via Pinterest. Then I just put a piece of notebook paper under the plates, real simple and super cute!
Waffle Pencils for breakfast!

We started our day this morning with saying a good morning song, the pledge, and then circle time!
Circle time consisted of completing the calendar for the day and going over shapes, colors, and numbers.
Then the kids had about 15-20 minutes of free time for puzzles, drawing, blocks or reading books!
The lessons for the day consisted of working with the letter A! Lilly started
by tracing this A flash card with glitter glue. Once it dries it will be a great sensory resource
to use.

She also worked on her fine motor skills as she placed the clothes pins onto the
plate to match the coordinating letters.
I then gave her a book to create her own apple tree. I loved how she did this
and it came out so cute! She loves to paint.

The kids also worked on their sorting and counting skills with green and
red apples. I had them sort each set by color and then put them into
groups of five.
The sensory bin this week is washing apples and this was such a huge hit! They
both loved it so much. Lilly even came up with a little song as she washed, it was
so adorable. I just love a good sensory bin!
All in all, I felt it was a great day. The only struggle we had was keeping Hudson intrigued, but he is only 2 1/2 and it is totally understandable. He has never been in a classroom setting before and he will need
some time to learn the routine. We will get there and he will feel more adjusted and confident as the
days go by. Other than that, I am so proud of my two little ones. To be able to start school in a totally
different environnent and to be able to adapt is amazing on their part. I can't wait to see how much they learn and grow this year!
Thank you guys for following along!
We had a great first day!
XO
Kim
