The Little Red Hen

Good Morning!

This week we worked on the Letter H! Today we read "The Little Red Hen" and it was such a great story that allowed for a ton of coordinating activities!

First we started out with tracing Letter H in salt. I use this activity a lot to work on letter recognition. Next week we will be using the salt as well to review the letters A-H! Then we did a counting activity where Lilly counted wheat seeds and we then practiced writing the numbers out. This is a skill we are still working on so Lilly traced the number and we tried to write a few out. We also worked on sequencing as we cut out pieces of the story and then put them in the correct order. This was a great activity for Lilly to work on fine motor skills as well as memory and sequencing.

I wanted to add some hands-on activities as well so we started with fork paintings to make wheat plants. All you need is brown paint, white paper and forks. This was really simple and super fun for the kids to use a different paining tool!

The final thing we did was so much fun! The kids learned how to knead bread and then we baked it and enjoyed some with butter and jelly!

This lesson was one of my favorites!

Such a great way to work on letter recognition.

Lilly is working on counting skills and number recognition.

Cutting and glueing is a good way to work on those fine motor skills. I loved how she was also able to work on memory and sequencing events with this as well.

F O R K   Painting!

Making Some Wheat Stalks!

The kids loved learning how to knead the dough!

Hudson was a little hesitant at first but eventually got in there!

The bread looked and smelled DELICIOUS!

IT WAS SO GOOD!

Lilly approved!

Thats a WRAP! I hope you guys enjoyed spending a day with us!

Thanks!

XO

Kim
